Crazy Horse Memorial (7 June 2005)

In the early afternoon of Tuesday, 7 June 2005, I went to the Crazy Horse Memorial being built north of the town of Custer, South Dakota. The carving is huge: bigger than Mount Rushmore.

I won't try to reconstruct the history of the project: You can use the links at the site above to find out more. What might be most impressive about the endeavor is that it is happening entirely through private fund raising: no (explicit, at least) government assistance or management of the project.
